Senior | Sydney

Sydney is one of most talented country girls I know. She knows all things about cattle, hogs and any other type of critter on the farm. She is sweat and nice and so beautiful- and every boy in our part of Nebraska has a secret crush on her.  (But don’t tell her daddy- because he is a little protective of her).   I love to watch her show her 4-H calves- she shows with confidence and all her animals respond to her.  And I dare you to ask her a question about them- she knows her stuff.  All the 4-H judges have found this out.  She always wins (or is in the top three)  showmanship classes.
Check out the picture of Syd in the green shirt-  Yep- that is a cute little pig tail in the background.  I know what you are thinking- she doesn’t have a pig tail in her hair.  Look closer- she is leaning on a pig- her 4-H pig.  This piggy was so well trained it just let her sit there and lean on it.  (LOVE IT!)  LOL

This is a picture of her winning the Loup Valley Livestock Challenge showmanship contest.  She beat kids from 31 counties in Nebraska.  (It was about 110 degrees that day- and she still looks great!!)

Senior | Chantz

I had the pleasure of photographing another serious cowboy this last week.  Again my goal was to get Chantz to have fun and smile.  Another goal was to get his cowboy hat off!  That was a request from his Mom.  I met Chantz early last Saturday morning at a High School Rodeo in Oneill.  Chantz had a few other things on his mind then just taking his senior pictures- he had a steer to rope later that morning.  Plus he had around 100 teenagers teasing him about getting his senior pictures taken during the rodeo. I enjoyed the morning and did finally get that smile and hat off.

Enjoy your senior year at Wheeler Central- (My alma mater from many years ago) .

Football | Big Hearts

I am a very “proud” parent of one of these hard working boys!  Here is a little background on the Ord High School’s first varsity football game of the season.  To begin with we only have 24 boys out for football.  Out of this 24 – six of them are freshman boys.  On Friday night we only had 15 players suit up.  Why you ask?  Mostly from injuries (hopefully soon 3 players will be back) and some from illness (soon 4 players will be recovered).  Of these 15 players three were freshman (only one freshman ended up playing).  So the question is do you really want freshman boys thrown into the first varsity game of the season? Well – we needed him and he delivered when called on.

We traveled to a team that had 55 players suited up.  So they had the numbers.  But you know what?  We had the HEART! Our boys were the first to score and we did not even have our starting quarterback or starting running back!  Our boys were better conditioned- they had to be in great shape to play both defense and offense.

Here are a few of my favorite photos of the evening.  (I am not be best football photographer- so sorry about the quality)

I just want to point out a few of my favorite images  and make a few comments- check out number 12 in the white below.  He is the little guy on the line with both hands down.  That is my son.  He is only 135lbs and a sophomore (the program had him as 160lbs- but I am his Mama and I know better).  He has never played in a varsity game- but he was needed.  And he delivered!  (As did all the boys!!)

The coaches giving him some words of encouragement.  I was so IMPRESSED with our coaches!

Look at that mean 53 grabbing my son’s helmet in the pile. LOL

And check this out.  He was taking on TWO players.  Both with about 50-75 lbs on him.  OK- I am having a “proud Mama” moment right now….

This is one of my favorite images-  check out our receiver Derek- ok now check out the girls behind him.  That is our Ord Chants Volleyball team!!  They drove 2 hours (one direction) to cheer on our boys!!!  Our cheerleaders did not make it, but the Volleyball team did.  You rock girls!!

You are now wondering what the final score was?  We did lose 6 to 14.  I realize there is not a moral victory in football.  But they won more than the game.  The boys won the respect of the parents, coaches and student body of Ord High school!!

Senior | Jace

Cowboys are so fun to photograph.  They are tough and of course don’t want to show to much emotion—  so my whole goal when taking pictures of a tough cowboy is to get one good smile out of him. And it was not to much work with Jace.  I was able to get that smile as soon as he broke out his ropes and started doing a few tricks.  Next came out the bull whip, then the pistol and then the fake cougar rug came out, oh I can’t forget about how he steer wrestled a steer and then jumped on him to ride him (what a show off!)…….  I finally had to tell him to stop!  He was making me tired from all my laughing.  I had a fun night with Jace. He is going to have a great senior year.

Senior | Kacia

It was so hard to pick my favorite photos of Kacia- especially since every photo I took of her was beautiful. Kacia is a very busy girl- she plays every sport and is in the school swing singers. And don’t let her petite size fool you- you better not mess with her on the volleyball or basketball court- she just may take you out!

Enjoy your senior year Kacia!!
